This Sunday our youth lesson is about worship…specifically what worship is and isn’t.
What does worship mean to you?

Sam, thanks for addressing this issue. I think it’s time well spent to examine why we keep the habit of meeting together weekly. We’ve been encountering a little resistance lately to worship attendance at our house, mostly Sunday nights, but sometimes even Sunday mornings. Sunday School is A-okay with our student, but the service itself inspires less enthusiasm for attendance . . . I’ve tried talking about why we attend worship–to focus on God, praise him, not just show up to be entertained. But I’m afraid I haven’t tackled the issue in much depth. I need to talk about the benefits of meeting together for fellowship and encouragement, and for support when facing troubles or temptation. I feel convicted as I think about this issue because my sense is that if our relationship with Christ is vibrant, our attitude toward worship would be that we can’t wait to have a chance to gather and praise him as a group. I’m also convicted as I think about how Christians in other countries are persecuted if it is discovered that they are meeting in an underground church–they’re willing to risk imprisonment or even worse to gather with other Christians to worship and study the Bible!
