plenty to do this week
Yesterday I was thinking about the week ahead and realized there’s a ton going on for our students. And the super cool thing is that these are all opportunities to serve. Serving is one of the most important disciplines for our teens to learn, so I challenge you to encourage your teenager to be a part of at least one of these opportunities this week. Here they are:
1. Serving our senior adults at their Harvest Banquet this Thursday at the church from 6:00 – 7:00.
2. Loading trucks with all the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes from the region at Mardel in Lubbock this Saturdy…we’ll leave the church at 8:15, work till lunch, and grab a bite to eat before coming home. Students will need money for lunch.
3. Being a part of the Children’s Hope Bible Club this Sunday at the church from 3:30 to 4:45…This is an ongoing ministry of our youth group. We meet with the beautiful kids from Children’s Hope once a month to play, sing, teach, create, and eat!
Please make sure your teen learns how to serve others.
“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant…” Philippians 2:5-7
Modesty Survey
TheRebelution.com has released the results of their massive modesty survey! Over 1,600 Christian guys have answered questions on everything from glitter lotion and lip gloss to swimsuits and skirt slits! It’s everything girls have ever wanted to ask guys about modesty, but were afraid to ask! For guys, it’s really interesting to see what other Christian guys think!
Most importantly, the survey is presented as a resource to help Christian girls (and guys), not a list of legalistic rules, and it is accompanied by the Modesty Survey Petition (which tons of guys have signed) which encourage young women to focus on the heart, not the hemline, to honor their parents, etc.
This is a survey that all parents and teens need to take a look at! The results may surprise you and they may challenge you. I would love to see teenage girls step up and boldly live out Proverbs 31:30. And I would love to see teenage guys step up and boldly live Job 31:1.
I hope you will use this survey to ignite some great conversation with your teens about modesty, self-control, true beauty, and godliness.
